What has made me what I am today? Two areas of interest, training in two professions, a career that has been consistently geared to law and financial services and an impressive track record:
- Commercial apprenticeship for the banking sector at Landesgirokasse Stuttgart (final mark: “excellent”)
At that time I was already involved in legal matters, particularly securities law. - Studies in law at the University of Tübingen, then Göttingen and Kiel, and finally Göttingen again (during regular period of study), under Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Ulrich Immenga, Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Wolfgang Zöllner and Prof. Dr. Winfried Werner among others
- Mandatory legal internship [“Referendariat”] in Lower Saxony and in London; all examinations passed with distinction
- Doctorate in Law at the University of Göttingen with a thesis relating to credit security law under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Ulrich Immenga
- Deutsche Bank AG, initially as a trainee in Hanover, subsequently as Corporate Banking Officer in London.
Main focus areas: credit business, national and international banking business and bank products for corporate clients, derivatives - Various positions at the insurance group HDI Hannover (Haftpflichtverband der Deutschen Industrie V.a.G.), culminating in the position of Head of Legal and Senior Vice President of the Hannover Reinsurance Group
Main focus areas: company law, commercial and business law, innovative capital market instruments, international financial contracts - Consultant in the Tax / Financial Services division at the auditing company PricewaterhouseCoopers AG in Frankfurt am Main
Systematic consolidation and broadening of my knowledge in the area of taxes, financial accounting law, financing, derivatives, structured products, asset backed securities, mezzanine capital, company law
Since 2006, when I established my own legal practice, I have worked as an independent lawyer specialising in consulting and project management involving legal aspects and financial business transactions.
